Long exposure on Fujifilm S1500 digital camera?
Can I somehow make the exposure longer besides setting the shutter speed to 8 seconds? I’m talking about using this with night photography tricks, drawing with flashlights, car lights trails, stars movement, etc.
I have a Fujifilm Finepix S1500 digital camera
Unfortunately, you can’t go any lower than 8 seconds. I looked at the specs and under Shutter Speed it showe 8 sec. to 1/2000 sec. I was hoping to see “+ B” which would have told me you had the capability of holding the shutter open as long as you wanted but it wasn’t there.
Don’t give up though. You can do a lot of night photography with an 8 sec. shutter speed. Light trails from passing cars should be fine if you
1) Use a tripod; 2) Use ISO 100; 3) Use f4. Those settings will also give you good results with a city skyline in the distance. Now if you zoom to the longest zoom setting your f-stop will become f5.0 and you’ll need to increase your ISO to 200 and shorten your shutter speed to about 5 or 6 sec. You’ll just have to experiment. You can also try ISO 400 and f8 for 8 sec. Use the camera’s self-timer to release the shutter.
For star trails you might try taking several exposures at f2.8 at 8 sec. with the camera on a tripod, using the self-timer to release the shutter. At this site:
