Why is my Nikon Coolpix S4 digital camera showing a blank screen?
The screen has all the icons on, yet the image is totally black. It’s as if the lens cap is on (of course I’ve checked the lens cap). When pictures are taken, the images come out black. I can view previously taken pictures on the screen, so I know that the LCD is working. What is wrong with the camera and is it something I can fix myself? Fortunately, the camera is under warranty if it is necessary to have it professionally repaired.
I just experienced the same problem. Did you also get an AF error if you tried to take a picture (shutter button half way down)? Mine is currently at Nikon for diagnosis and repair (under warranty). Since it sounds like you had the same problem, I tend to think this is a product defect. Has anyone else out there experienced this? If so, what was the root cause?
