How do lifting straps work-serious lifters only please?
when weight lifting, how exatcly do you wrap the wrist straps and what is the purpose
The purpose is to lift heavier weights then you normally can without the straps. Grip muscles don’t get as much workout in your daily life as other muscle do. When people exercise with weights, they rarely work grip muscles directly.
Therefore, often the grip is the weakest link when handling weights, because muscles responsible for it are small and it is not easy to develop them.
My recommendation is not to use straps, because it is to your benefit to develop your grip. It could also be dangerous, because your body is not used to handling that extra weight you can lift using the straps. Straps have their place in weight lifting, but they are better suited for experienced and developed lifters.
